POSITION SUMMARY: The Patient Sitter, under the directon of the Registered Nurse, will observe and interact with individual patients to ensure plies with PH:DuBois policies and procedures, accreditation agency requirements, and federal, state or local law and regulations. Demonstrates ability to perform patient observation to ensure safety.Observes the patients action and behaviors to ensure patient safety.Establishes a positive relationship with patients / families and reports patient / family concerns accurately and concisely to appropriate treatment team member.Reports significant changes in the patients behavior to the RN during the shift.Reports signs of increasing agitation to the RN.Reports to the RN at the end of shift::patient behavior, sleeping pattern, and other relevant information.Ensures the comfort needs are met if monitoring patient directly at the bedside.Responds promptly to patient call bells and patient needs.Promptly reports changes in patients condition to the RN.Demonstrates personal accountability as evidenced by but not limited to:Participates in implementing departmental initiatives.Conducts self in professional manner in dress, actions, and interpersonal communication.Ensure environment of safety for patients, significant others, and forms Department Director / Supervisor / Clinical Manager of patient care situations and departmental problems as appropriate.Demonstrates effective problem solving skills for clinical and departmental issues.Maintains current CPR and Comprehensive Crisis Management certifications. General duties as directed.High school diploma or equivalent requiredOne year patient care experience preferredHealthcare Provider (CPR) certification required within 6 months of start date in department/positionComprehensive Crisis Management certification required within 6 months of start date in department/positionGood verbal and written communication skills rquiredFamiliarity with medical terminology preferred**Will work every other weekend**Will work 3 holidays per year
