CERTIFIED NURSE AIDE sought for innovative eldercare facility Part Time : All Shifts Available Altoona Center for Nursing Care A? conveniently located in Downtown Altoona A? is a 120:bed Skilled Nursing Center. The first floor houses a Rehabilitation Unit, complete with physical, occupational, and speech:language therapies.The Center for Nursing Care has about 140 attending physicians, who are credentialed following guidelines for long:term care. Another 20 consulting physicians are available. We employ two case managers, a director of nursing, and an assistant director of nursing. The center is currently seeking a Certified Nurse Aide to provide personal and restorative nursing care and assists, as directed by onsite nurses. The aide will be responsible for providing high quality care for the centerA?s geriatric residents and residents of varying ages, and must display patience, compassion and, above all, a deep commitment to maximizing clientsA? well:being.Responsibilities include:Assisting in daily living activities for residents/patients, in accordance with established procedures and nurse directivesProviding general care to residents of all ages, including bathing, dressing, hair care, shaves, nail trimming, dental hygiene, skin care and general personal servicesAssisting residents in keeping their personal spaces/rooms clean and organizedPositioning, lifting and turning residents, as needed, to ensure maximum comfort and supportAmbulating and toileting residents, as neededAiding in additional procedures as requested, such as admitting, transferring, discharging, taking TPR/blood pressure, measuring/recording intake and output, collecting urine/stool specimens and administering enemasAssisting with daily movement and exercise routines, as instructed by physicians and/or therapistsAssisting with the care of dying and deceased residents, and providing support to families and other residentsMaking ongoing rounds to assigned residents, and responding promptlyTransporting residents to the dining hall, serving food trays and feeding, as neededObserving residents for social, emotional and physical changes, and reporting findings to nursing staff This is an entry level position with significant growth potential. All applicants must possess current nurse aide certification or the completion of an N.A. training program, and have some prior resident care or related experience. A high school diploma or GED equivalent is also required, as are strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to follow written and verbal instructions, and the physical capacity to walk, stand and lift throughout the day. alxxxx
